We have so many waters around us that sometimes I do n`t know how to name it. A river , a inlet or a lake . And it chance some times as a inlet get tide and salt water again by open/remove the dam . They do this to day for nature reason. They even give a reclaim land back to the sea . I think this is a lake.
A lovely scene -- it looks a great expanse of water and the birds look very much like gulls ! You have captured this cold dull day so well , the waters look pretty empty and isolated except for the birds !
@brillomick Before 1967, it was a tidal river open to the North Sea, but it was closed off as part of the Delta Works. There are new plans to re-open it and make it tidal and brackish again.
Isn't it interesting how it is now thought important to have stretches of coast as natural barriers against flooding. This is a lovely shot with all the birds on the mud flats
