Not allowed to bloom. by pyrrhula

Not allowed to bloom.

Life is n`t alway`s a party . Even for flowers. This Peony plants are not allowed to bloom yet. They are be headed before blooming as making seeds decrease the grows of the plant . And BIG plants the grower wants .
Are they allowed to bloom at all or are the heads cut off as soon as they open? Such a shame

@dorsethelen Not as long as they grows on this field. The pic. right up shows how much they can go. When they are big enough the plants will be harvest and sold to a flower grower (?) They go for the flowers ,often in a glass/hot house. But this is also the end of the plant

Shame they don't gather the cut off buds and allow them to open in a vase. Interesting how this happens. It must be very labour intensive to pick all the flower buds off.

That must be very hard work not to let them bloom - and I suppose it is all done by hand (is it?). You seem to live in paradise with all those flowering plants around you.

Lovely pov, my dad was a Market Gardener and used to pinch all flowers out of plants that he wanted to grow bigger, I always thought it was a shame but it does work wonders and the plant can concentrate on putting growth down and not wasting energy.
