While I was taking this pic. an old man told me this is/was an old factory that made a paint pigment from the crop ``Meekrap`.` A red colour made of the roots from this plant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubia_tinctorum
To day there is a increasing new grow and use for it.
Lovely lines in this picture. An interesting link. My grandmother used to talk of dying fabric with "madder" to refresh clothes, now I know a little more about it and the colour. I wish I had written down all the tales she told me. Katharine
A historical building with so many buttresses and support holding up the walls . Such a wavy roof top . interesting info. on the net -- I use rose madder paint pigment in my water colour paint box !!
Lovely shot. Thank you for telling about the madder being used for dye. I remember both my mother and paternal grandmother using natural dye, but I do not remember all of the things they used for dye.
Beautiful capture and very interesting info. I don't blame you prefer the countryside to a big city like The Hague. I live on the outskirts of my village and it is never cramped with people so, maybe, that is why it doesn't put pressure on me.
