This photo was taken on yesterday's walk, as was the shot of the local park (on PP this morning - thank you everybody for your interest).
Although not a church goer, I find the church beautiful and also I have opportunities to speak regularly with the vicar.
These occur when we are both out dogwalking, me with Jinks, my Cairn terrier, the vicar with his German shepherd which Jinks dislikes with a passion and at whom he barks hysterically. So I always feel I have to apologize. I find the vicar very understanding.... Last time, his dog barked back which made me feel a bit better.
Today I'm going to finish reading Cyrano de Bergerac, prep for our French Lit meeting here tomorrow. It's a bit disconcerting when I have to look up a word and then find that I don't understand the English. This morning I found that un tire-laine = footpad = highwayman or robber on foot. I'm interested to try to find the origin of the French.
You are not only blessed with beauty all around you but the insight to see it & the talent to not only capture it but do the scene or subject justice, well done. You excel in all areas.
An absolutely gorgeous misty view, feels very timeless. I'm not a churchgoer, but I adore churches. I did French at uni, really starting to forget it all now though, should try reading more.
Is it just me, or can anybody with a fertile imagination, see what I see in this amazing picture. Directly to the right of the small cross, the headstones appear quite like men with heavy cloaks to ward off the winter chill....Probably just me, maybe I shovelled too much Alpaca poo to-day. I am not a churchgoer either & am not inclined to flights of fancy but believe all things are possible.
Wow. This is an awesome photo. Love the light and composition. IT feels eery but calming and peaceful at the same time. I would love to see this location front lit at sunset/sunrise. Whichever is the opposite of where you were at this point. I would think it is morning because of the haze.
I have tried to capture the church at sunset (which is behind where I am standing to take this shot). So it would be quite a different view. One problem is the wire which you can just see extreme left of the shot and which is more prominent when taking a shot from the opposite side. But I haven't given up!
Great scene out of a Dracula movie. Lovely old church and a beautiful capture of it.
(get the wire out of the pic. with retouch/touch up . I often do if I don`t like it. )
@quietpurplehaze That's when photoshop is helpful I believe. Just clone that wire outta there! In this photo I actually think it adds more than it distracts.
I'm glad you think it adds, Adam, as I feel I have enough to do with taking my shots, a bit of editing, commenting etc and I don't really want to start 'photoshopping'!
I read more in French than I do in English and when I find a French author whose work I like I usually read most of their books.
Now you mention it............... Well they do LOOK a bit like men in cloaks .....wish they would ward off this continual rain!

It's in a village in the south of England.
Funny you should say that - we had a good session on Cyrano this afternoon and I made exactly your comment about the film and Depardieu!
