We walked out, past Castle Cornet in St Peter Port, to the lighthouse. Several fishermen about.

As I walked round the lighthouse a loud rustling startled me and I saw fish struggling inside a plastic bag.

I turned to the nearest fisherman and asked, "What's in your bag?"

"Fish," he muttered out of the corner of his mouth and without taking his ciggie out of it.

"OK," I said.

I guess I got the answer to my question! And you have to believe me when I say that I had absolutely no intention of asking for a portrait.

Oh dear Hazel that would upset me. I have nothing really against fishing but to let it truffle for air like that, bad fisherman that doesn't respect nature. Alright if what you catch us put to full use & not wasted but treated with respect. You should have shoved him in the water with your foot!

What a lovely composition...the side light on the lighthouse is so effective and that red jacket on the left gives such added value. Really well composed. Glad you had this lovely outcome even if a bit miffed by the taciturn fisherman!
