brunch

One day this week, we returned for brunch at Miss Moody's Tudor Tea Room in King John's House in Romsey. This medieval building was constructed c1230 as a lodge for the King to use in his hunting activities in the nearby New Forest. In the tea room there are embroidered tablecloths, china crockery and flowers on each table.

On a former visit we learned that some of the tablecloths had been donated by customers and took in a now-unused one from home, which had been embroidered by my mother when she was 16.

Behind the house, all is now in summer mode with colourful flowers and even small fruit appearing on an espalier pear tree in the walled garden.

Love the idea of bringing a tablecloth to donate to such a wonderful place instead of leaving it forever in the cupboard. Super collage!
