two snapshots of the same jay by quietpurplehaze

two snapshots of the same jay

These are poor photos but I want to record that I managed to 'snap' a jay in the Botanical Gardens in Bath.

Next on my desirable bird list is a woodpecker and after that, a kingfisher. Dream on.....
Spectacular picture.

@tryingforsighs

They are lovely I agree and so shy but I guess this one was a bit more used to people in that setting.

WOW... So close... I really like this bird :)

Lovely shots. You know, I've heard countless woodpeckers but never spotted one.

How wonderful to get these beautiful pictures of the Jay it seems to be quite rare

Well done on your capture. We often hear woodpeckers but don't always spot them. However the river banks are alive with kingfishers which are seen darting under cover leaving a hint of sapphire blue only, they are my favourites.

Clever capture. At first glance I thought it was two birds talking to each other.

Yes, it does look like that in the collage - that's why I felt the need to explain!!!!

@pennystot

I saw that sight of kingfishers when on a boat trip on a little river in France - they were too quick for me!

Nice shots. We don't have these birds in the UK

I don't think it is a poor shot. I think it is great and a record that you have successfully managed to get a photo of a jay. Good luck with the kingfisher and woodpecker.

Great shots well captured

I love the little blue bit on her/his wings! I don't think we have jays like this in the states?
April 17th, 2014
Great shot!

Love it, it is great you have a bird list, that would be a fun list to mark off.
April 17th, 2014
Lovely little bird, I had never seen a jay before, quite nice. Looking forward to a woodpecker.

@pplutz

I'm not sure - I do know from seeing pics on 365 that the robins are different from ours.

@shepherdmanswife

These are British birds, shot (not literally) in Bath.
April 17th, 2014
@quietpurplehaze wow, I've never seen one. Just assumed they weren't british!

@shepherdmanswife

They are incredibly shy and I've probably only seen one or two before this - just lucky to be in the right place etc.......
April 17th, 2014
Very different from our jays, and nice to see a species new to me.
April 17th, 2014
You're so lucky to see a jay! I think I've only seen one, once. Great shot
