Get Pushed Challenge #444
My get pushed partner challenged me to pick one subject to shoot, and capture it in different angles, distances, colors, or light. You might present it as a diptych, triptych, or even a series.
The challenge for me was to chose a subject then figure how to shoot it differently. I chose to shoot it from different angles and there was some difference in lighting, although that is subtle. Then I decided to put it in a collage using Photoshop. Challenge #2. Following along with a video class I took and watched and "rewound" and watched again one of the episodes to remember how to do the layers.

The figurine is special to me. My father gave to my mother when I (the oldest child) was still a twinkle in their eyes. It sat on her dresser and I remember loving it since I can remember. I was fortunate to inherit it when she passed away.
@aecasey I'm ashamed that I never replied to your challenge to start with. I think that I was going to give you a separate comment when I finished with the others and never did it. I apologize. That being said, I also dragged my feet in getting this done. Part of the week I was pretty busy but I had no excuse for the rest. It's actually been the perfect day for this since it's been rainy and cold all day - just the day to stay in the house and play with my camera and my computer. I enjoyed this challenge a lot and I appreciate it. Thank you.

Oh, Kathy! Well done! The differences in lighting and the angle from which you shot this figurine make it a most interesting photo. I am especially impressed with the way you assembled the photo in PS. I have no understanding of how to make layers work in any program. How touching that it has such a special meaning to you.

Kathy you did such a great job with this! I like the way the figurine moves around the collage so that we get to see every side of her. It's sweet that she is so special- and it really shows in the way you've arranged her. I think if I was to make any suggestion it would be a lighter, softer color in the background instead of gray but it could be you had no choice in that. Anyway- you really did a great job with this challenge!

This is so cool! I love your compositions and how you put them together!!

I did do my challenge, but I had grandkids today and I haven't had time to get them from the camera. I will post, but it will be late.

@grammyn Thank you Katy. It's a learning curve for sure.
@thewatersphotos Thank you Gary.
@olivetreeann Thank you Ann. I appreciate the feedback and I agree. The entire photo needs to be brightened/lightened up. Somehow my photos often seem darker on this site than they do on my computer monitor. It's something I'm trying to compensate for.

@randystreat This is where I am only slightly knowledgable but I think it has to do with how the light is calibrated on your computer screen. And that's about all that I can tell you! If you do know someone who might be more tech savvy- tell them the circumstances and see if they have an idea of what might cause that. Just thinking "out loud".

I find things upload darker too, but can't be faffed to calibrate screen on laptop . There's something called Spyder that camera club keen people used but no idea how easy it is!! @olivetreeann

@olivetreeann Something to think about. Until I can do that, if I can remember I think I will overexpose the jpgs just a bit before I import them.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Spyder. I'll have to look that up. Thanks. Well, I'm back. I looked it up and since I'm not in the biz, I think I'll pass that one up. ($169)

@randystreat There's probably a free tutorial on Youtube- there's always something on Youtube! But would we understand it? Hmmm...
