Thank you for the kind and interesting comments everyone. It is a candlewicked pillow top made by me back in the day. (I think it was the fiber craft of the moment.) It actually isn't uncomfortable to sleep on because each knot is made of yarn and is squishy. I thought the angle was unique so I took the photo.
