On my way home I saw some views of some local mountains. This one is called Shortoff Mountain. It had rained not long before and the shady parts of the road were still damp.
A beautiful view and capture of the road and mountains. @randystreat@eileenw That tree is grafted.
Grafting or graftage[1] is a horticultural technique whereby tissues from one plant are inserted into those of another so that the two sets of vascular tissues may join together. This vascular joining is called inosculation. The technique is most commonly used in asexual propagation of commercially grown plants for the horticultural and agricultural tradesedia :

@peterlgrave Thank you Peter. Yes indeed. It was getting a little dry here until the end of last week. This area, while close, probably had been getting more rain than we've had at the house. @cejaanderson Thank you Jane. I wish I had taken one on the hill just before this. Better hill and twist. No place to turn around, though. @homeschoolmom Thank you Lisa @ziggy77 Thank you Jo. @susanalena Thank you Susan @pyrrhula Thank you Pyrrhula. And thank you for the explanation of the odd tree, too.
