Surge et Ambula

This is the western entrance to the Colonnade bridge that connects the spa island to the town of Piestany. The spa’s motto "Surge et ambula" literally means ‘Get up and walk’. The "Crutch Breaker" sculpture is the work of Robert Kuhmayer, created in 1934. The bridge was destroyed in 1945 by the retreating German army and it was reconstructed in 1956.
Beautiful sculpture and pretty lighting and interesting information, Renee.
