As I wrote for my last post of a Painted Lady, “If if has to be a Painted Lady, … then it can at least be a different treatment” http://365project.org/rhoing/365/2012-10-07
Today I managed to capture a Painted Lady with an orange-ish/yellowish tree as the background, providing a nice, complementary background against which to see its extended proboscis.
I began this project nearly 22 months ago with two goals in mind. One goal was to create some self-motivation for learning how to use, and make the most of, my new camera (Canon T2i). That goal has definitely been met. (Somewhere along the way, I’d like to think I’ve also become a better photographer.)
The second goal was to have a sort of photo-journal to record some of the day-to-day events in my life and family. (Having seen “Rent” over the weekend, each of us 365’ers has an answer to that musical question — “525,600 moments in a year? How do you measure a year in the life?” We can measure a year in the life with a-photo-a-day!) So from a photo-journal perspective, this post documents the continued presence of Painted Ladies at butterfly bushes in southern Illinois this “deep” into October.

Beautiful shot of this Painted Lady. I saw Rent a few years ago. Good analogy. I measure my days through photography and cooking, and try that to have variety in both of projects.
I'm so behind on commenting. I basically took 2 weeks off for various reasons and I'm sorry I missed this one.. Anyway, definite fav. Really nice composition and focus.
