Ever heard a tuba concerto? Now I have!
It was okay. I appreciate how physically-demanding the piece was for the soloist, but there were other parts of the program I enjoyed much more (Bizet and Ravel). Clare & I went with Raymond, Vytis and someone with whom Clare had worked and attends Mass at Raymond & Jeanne's parish.

BIZET (1838–1875): Selections from Carmen (1873–74)
» Les Toréadors
» Prélude
» Habañera
» Seguedille
» Les Dragons d'Alcala
» La Garde montante
» Aragonaise
» Nocturne
» Intermezzo
» Chanson du Toréador
» Danse bohême

DEBUSSY (1862–1918): Danses sacrée et profane (1904)
» Danse sacrée: Très modéré
» Danse profane: Modéré
Allegra Lilly, harp

VAUGHAN WILLIAMS (1872–1958): Tuba Concerto in F minor (1954)
» Prelude: Allegro moderato
» Romanza: Andante sostenuto
» Finale—Rondo alla tedesca: Allegro
Michael Sanders, tuba

RAVEL (1875–1937): Bolero (1928)

I was astonished how many familiar melodies there are from Carmen, and Bolero was awesome (the association with “10” notwithstanding)!
