Cessna 152 [Filler] by rhoing

Cessna 152 [Filler]

ID’ed by a former student* (from a 100-level economics course for non-majors) who is now married to an American Airlines pilot (who just made captain👍).

This display is at the airport (MDH) where SIU trains its Aviation Flight students and where Clare and I had our late lunch recently.

I contacted my former student for an ID because I was curious how much the plane might weigh, to be mounted on a post like this. Empty weight: 1,081 lb. Perhaps for display the engine has been removed?

Converted to black-and-white as it was a very dreary day and the January garden didn’t add any color.

My former student followed up: her husband “pointed out that the tail number is no longer allowed due to the I and 1 being too easily confused.” Makes sense. On that topic, I greatly appreciate that my password manager has a password generator with a box to tick for “Avoid ambiguous characters”!
