Back to Freight House

Clare with Top Chef “chef-testants” Sara Bradley (S16, Kentucky, runner-up; S20 World All-Stars, runner-up) and Edward Lee (S9, Texas) at Chef Bradley’s restaurant, Freight House, in Paducah, Kentucky. The event was “From ‘farm to glass’: a culinary journey through Bourbon Land with Chef Edward Lee.”

Without spending a ridiculous amount of time on blurring the background (and three people), Google couldn’t deal with the bartender’s arm between Clare and Chef Lee, but I was able to get this satisfactory result from ON1, with some Chisel Mask Tool help.

“Chef Lee was the recipient of the 2019 James Beard Foundation Award for his book Buttermilk Graffiti: A Chef's Journey to Discover America's New Melting Pot Cuisine” (Carmichael’s Bookstore). The as-yet unreleased book is Bourbon Land: A Spirited Love Letter to My Old Kentucky Whiskey, with 50 recipes.

This evening at Freight House:
   • welcome cocktail
   • all-you-care-to-eat cocktail-style dinner with stations featuring recipes from Lee’s book and other bourbon-inspired dishes.
   • one additional drink
   • signed copy of Bourbon Land (personalized by Chef Lee)
   • guided bourbon tasting of special barrel picks from Chefs Lee and Bradley

Clare is holding a copy of the book, but every ticket to the event received a personalized copy, so with our second ticket, we got a book he signed for our “chef-y” son-in-law, Steve.
