Toasting a departed friend

Our friend, the long-time pastor of a church in a neighboring town and a key member of my Saturday morning breakfast group, passed away last week at 71. (He had been in poor health and was not terribly happy, so in many ways his passing was a blessing for him.)

His funeral was today. Clare and I stopped for a late lunch on the way home. Our beverages are “Black Velvets,” a cocktail with the brewery’s Cadence Porter and sparkling brut. Sounds strange, maybe, but delicious. Here’s to you, Gary. You will be missed.
