Finally spotted one of the Barred Owls out today. Not sure if it was asleep when I first saw it, but as I tried to sneak up on it to get a better shot, those eyes were wide open. Looks best on black if you have the time.
How exciting. I’m really jealous. Our dog, Pearl, was barking wildly and pointing while I was away from home last week and jim went out to check what she was upset about...an owl that was so close he could capture it on his iPad!

It is really neat to find them out there like that.. And more surprising, they are really close to the trail with all of the people going by, but most people never know they are there, unless they see me there taking the shot.
