Our blackbirds don't look like this and without any indication of scale I at first thought this was a Corvid.
*sigh* I'm not that good with birds.
This reminded me of my parlous Corvid identification skills, so thus far this morning I have been teaching myself the difference 'twixt Rook, Raven and Crow. Happily it turns out that we have only Hoodies and Ravens so either it's a Gert Big Black B*gg*r -- or it's not.
And I am reminded that I have never photographed either species and should rectify that asap.
Blackbirds we see occasionally and did once have a pair nesting in the rhubarb patch (trees are absent here) but songbirds in general are hard to find on the island. More common since our Lulu-cat died of course. Much more common ;-)
