Wasp Trying to Gnaw Down the Tree!

Not sure what this wasp was doing, but it almost looked like it was trying to cut down that tree. If it was, it was going to be there a long time. That was a huge tree.

They use wood pulp to build their nests. I have ones that get it from my non treated railing boards.
