@casablanca Hi Casablanca - I guess it has a scientific name but everybody here calls it Whiskey Grass. Apparently, it was introduced into Oz as packing in the boxes containing whisky bottles. It produces thousand of seeds which have long hairs and blow for big distances. A real pest - but boy, a full paddock of them with the sun behind the seed heads makes a great photo! :)

@ulla @bintal @hrb73 @suzanne234 Thanks Ulrika, Sylvia, Hydee and Suzanne - you all mentioned the lighting so I thought I would explain in one go. These are actually really pretty so I have a big bunch of them in a vase on the back verandah (most locals think I'm weird!). And they look much better with the yellow metal wall as a background - so it's a bit of a cheat to have this colour and lighting! Oh well ...... Thanks to all of you for your lovely remarks! Cheers Rob

@olivetreeann Thanks Ann - they are nice enough that I have some of the rotten things in a vase - hence the lighting.... :)

Interesting to read the thread and learn more about what is in the image. It is beautiful with the bright sunny background.

@robz Last year I just let one of my flower pots on the deck grow whatever came up in it. Same idea!

@taffy Thanks Taffy - we've learnt so much since we bought the place in Stanthorpe - so different to the Coast! Thanks for your interest! Cheers Rob

@olivetreeann Now that's an interesting idea - I might just put a pot out into the forest and see what happens...... :)
