The Blood Moon and Mars

Seeing this was worth getting up at 4.30!!
Well done! I got up slightly later and it wasn't visible to me from my house... It was too low behind the trees and houses 🤪 I went back bed..

Great shot. We had thick cloud so no chance of seeing anything?

Oh well done. So very jealous ( in a friendly photography way!!)

Impressive!

Marvellous! here it would have been at 9 p.m. a decent time, and we had even organised a trip to the observatory, but the weather was not friendly and we didn't see anything.

Wow, amazing colour! Too much cloud here, saw nothing. Great to see yours.

I got up and went out to look at it, but the colour was nothing like this, more of a muddy reddish-brown.

@ulla Hi Ulrika - we had a pretty good view of it for quite a while - just fascinating. And it wasn't too cold either....

@sarahlth That's a shame Sarah - they happen so rarely. It was the first one I've seen. :)
July 29th, 2018
@caterina Sarah had the same thing happen - what a shame. It would have been wonderful at the observatory!

@caterina It hardly seems fair for you - no rain but then cloud when you don't want it. It changed colour many times - this was probably the brightest it got - and Mars was quite red at this stage too. Was worth the effort! Cheers Rob

@olivetreeann Hi Ann - it went through such a series of changes that it really kept you interested.
July 29th, 2018
@madeinnl This was about the brightest it got - it actually went through a series of colours. Was pretty good to watch! Cheers Rob

@golftragic Hi Marnie - we watched it for about an hour - it went through a whole series of colours - this was probably about the brightest it got. I had the Vivid setting on my camera so it may be a little brighter here - pretty close though. It was a bit muddy at the start and more pink at the end - worth watching though - first time we've bothered. Cheers Rob

@suzanne234 Thanks Suzanne - it was cool the way Mars was also red!

@rosie00 Hi Lesley - it's such a shame that the clouds didn't co-operate in a lot of places. I think we were just very lucky. Thanks for your comment.
