The aboriginal people used to use the mouth of a cave for shelter but were wary of moving back into the actual tubes. I can see why - without decent lighting they would be extremely spooky and dangerous.
The light in this image is the light from the outside shining in through the collpased roof.
We are so used to electric light, the idea of a dark cave is terrifying. But of course before the electric light, caves were comforting places of shelter and warmth. Nice shot
@casablanca Hi Casablanca - I don't think these would have been very good for much of anything - they are huge, cold, damp and inhabited by bats. And they flood. Our tour guide told us that in the 2011 floods they couldn't run their normal cave tours - so they ran cave swimming sessions - people actually went swimming into the caves!! Very popular it was too! :)
