A boat cruise on Lake Argyll - and a group on a camera tour joined us. They were very taken by the rock wallabies living on an island in the middle of the lake.
These wallabies were rescued when the valley flooded and released on an island in the lake, away from predators.
What a wonderful thing for the rock wallabies to be safe from predators. Hopefully their population will stay at a raisonnable number. I notice the expensive lenses all these photographers carry and Iβm envious!
@corinnec@shutterbug49 Hi Corinne and Debbie- I think the wallabies only breed when there's sufficient feed so they should be OK. They've been there for decades now so hopefully are naturally regulating their nos.
@fbailey Hi FB. Wallabies and roos swim quite well - we have seen them swimming across a large stretch of water where we live. Occasionally you read about one being rescued from out in the ocean.....so I think your video was correct! :)
@ludwigsdiana@wakelys@olivetreeann Hi Diana and Susan and Ann - - I was like you until I watched one little lady - she was flat out lifting and holding the thing! It didn't seem to be a hobby she could maintain.
@pamalama Hi Pam - It's funny but we haven't seen that much wildlife on our trip - nowhere near as much as we expected. We've done approx 7000km now and these would have been the most wallabies we've seen anywhere (except for Bladensberg N.P.) Cheers Rob
@helstor365 Hi Helge - the photo of the wallaby was mine - and it's good enough for our memories, and my camera fits in my pocket. I'm sure they produced some spectacular shots but it's not how we travel. Different interests for different people. :)
@rickster549 Hi Rick - they sure did - and I'm sure that got some cool shots. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd be able to carry one of those around...They were really heavy!
