Venus and a few stars by robz

Venus and a few stars

The planets and stars in our skies are always wonderful - but this is about the best my camera can do.
I think this is a lot better than mine will manage!

I made some moon pictures but they turn out so ugly hahaha... so dont worry Rob, this one is great...

gorgeous, these shots are so difficult

It's not bad for a point and shoot. My star shots are usually just pulsating circles so I stick to the moon. Venus came out pretty good here!

Good attempt. My star shots to date have all been rubbish if that's any consolation.

@fbailey Oh - your poor camera - have you had any indication yet as to how it's progressing? Is there any hope?

@madeinnl Thanks Ko - this is the full extent of the camera's 15 sec long exposure. It was pretty cool that it caught some stars - even if they are little!

@shilohmom Thanks Batya - you are right about difficult - and then they don't look much anyway.

@olivetreeann Thanks Ann - I've been pretty happy with the little camera - I still haven't tried everything it can do.....

@golftragic They are pretty boring to do too!! If my camera would stay open for more than 15 seconds it might catch something good - the stars out here are fabulous. Do you get a lot of city light reflection?

@robz Thanks for asking Rob. Have rescued the lens though it shows signs of rust on the aperture blades (or whatever they're called). The camera is a goner. Great excuse to get another at sone stage I guess!

@robz Not too bad from here in the 'burbs, especially if you look west or south. Mind you, doing that without a bunch of houses, trees, pole, wires etc in the way is a big ask.

@fbailey They are so expensive though but it would be exciting choosing a new one. I hope the lens at least will prove Ok . :)

@robz Thanks, I tend to get cameras pre-loved with low shutter counts:))
July 26th, 2018
@fbailey Really - I had no idea that you could see how often the shutter had been used. I love buying second hand goods - they often have so many expensive extras already present. And then there's the excitement of the hunt!! You should have lots of fun!! :)

@robz If you Google 'how many shutter actuations has my camera done ' it'll tell you how to find out:) Good old Google!
July 27th, 2018
@fbailey LOL - what did we do before Google?? Remember the whole sets of Encyclopædias....... Anyway - thanks for that info - I'll give it a test run on my camera. :)
