I'm sorry - but sometimes b&w just isn't good enough...
Please excuse my lack of communication over the last week or so - sometimes time just disappears.
I do have to agree with you. There is more to the color that meets the eye. The flowers appear to lead you through the shot, to the green foliage towards the upper right corner of the shot. Which is lost with the b&w shot.
I think this demonstrates so well the challenges to making a good b&w shot....it requires so much more control of contrast and/or focus...I'm finding it very challenging. Here the color really sparkles; the black and white doesn't have any real stand-out feature. OMG...this photography thing!!!!
@space319 Thanks for your thoughtful feedback Bobby - and I agree totally with you. The b&w lost so much - maybe a better photography could have made more of it - but for me and my camera it was a dead loss! Cheers Rob
@granagringa How very, very true Granagringa - some of the shots in the flashofred challenge have been such standouts - but I think they are from very accomplished b&w photographers. I'm like you - finding it very challenging! Determined to finish though! :)
