We are cleaning out my mother-in-law's house, getting ready to help her into a retirement community. I was assigned "photo journalist" duty (take pictures of pictures, so we can recycle). This is one of many. In this shot, she is the same age as my daughter is now (18). She watched my kids, when they were babies, when I went back to work. I love this woman. What a giving human being.
Thanks for stopping by. As you might be able to tell, lots happening on the home front. Sorry to be such a lame 365-er, but such is life.
10/1/2020: Finished year 7 (!), with continuing gratitude towards this amazing community. Based in St. Louis, MO. Regular worker-bee and self-taught photography dilettante....
This is adorable, Rosie. I'm doing the same thing for my dad & step-mother right now. They may be about the same vintage. It may take a couple of years to complete the process, but the photos are so priceless. It's wonderful, too, once they're digitized, we can share them with everyone in the family.
your Mum certainly looks like a lovely woman and attractive as. I hope she enjoys the retirement community life-I think I would enjoy it as long as I could take my cats.
What a beautiful happy portrait! Such a lovely smile! Always a hard task sorting out someone's home. You are doing a good job with the photos - such treasured possessions!
What a joyful expression on her face ! These kinds of moves are not easy to prepare for, yet necessary to do thoughtfully. And it seems you've thought through the process carefully.
Family photos are such a joy to find! Taking a photo of the photo is a great way to catalog them. I'm doing the same thing right now with photos I'm finding of my parents. Many are huge in frames- who has wall space for all this memorabilia?
She looks so tall! What a nice assignment, to go through old photos. It must be interesting to see what life was like back then. Hope the move goes well for her.
