@taffy It is complex, but I think it is the right thing to do. I am hoping that many burdens of home ownership are lifted from her. Plus, she has the increased social engagement. Almost like going to college... when you are 80. ;)
@rosiekerr I actually think this is a good time for her to move -- while active and with plenty of time to take advantage of the better social setting. Especially having returned from visiting my mom -- at 92 in her own place, but without a lot of people to socialize with. I don't think that's a good situation but now moving to assisted living seems so fraught with 'final move' associations for her.
you've done such a good job capturing the sense of impending move, emptying a house, and all that. Good luck . . . I emptied my mother's house and moved her to the USA 6 years ago, and she had lived in her home for 35 years. She's now living in a senior apartment complex that offers various activities and lunch time socializing.
