Parakeets on Parade

A parakeet cage... I enjoyed how they all lined up.

Thanks for taking the time to visit... I really appreciate it.
It's like they are showing off their patterns and color on their backs.

What a hoot of a photo. To me they're budgerigars, always called budgies, but it seems they are actually a variety of parakeet so we're all correct! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budgerigar
They're native to Australia and you see huge flocks of them in the semi-arid regions of the country. Green and yellow (like the on the left with the dark head) is the 'base' colour, the others colours are specially bred for. The boys have blue at the top of their beaks, the girls have brown - they're both capable of a decent nip of unwary fingers.

@golftragic I was shooting through wire, so now I am glad of that, since they can give a good nip. I just adore the name "budgies." So cute.

BUt there are always a couple that have to do it backwards.

@rosiekerr Thanks Rosie. Speaking of budgies, the brief mens' Speedo bathers are often referred to as 'budgie smugglers' here, even in polite circles and newspapers. Today's bit of trivia, or should that be 'trivium'?

Fun shot - I especially like how they're turned different ways.
