A romantically positioned ruined castle, high upon the cliffs of the Antrim Coast, Northern Ireland.
First built in the 13th century, it had a complex history until about 1690. A local legend states that at one point, part of the kitchen next to the cliff face collapsed into the sea, after which the wife of the owner refused to live in the castle any longer. When you walk into it (which we did), you can see the corner parts of the kitchen where the castle fell.
According to the Wiki page, this site is the inspiration for Cair Paravel (C.S. Lewis' Chronical of Narnia). This makes me happy, because I just loved this series when I was young.
Lots of cross-field clambering was involved to get this shot, with thanks to my daughter for balancing help, but this was as close to the cliff as I could manage.
This coastline was simply amazing. This one might improve on black. Thanks for stopping by.

Perfection! If you were looking for a shot to enlarge and add to your walls at home, this would be the one. Amazing light rays, in perfect position, and what a castle! And cliffs! And incredible landscape/seascape. Simply wow!
