"Up-Do" by rosiekerr

"Up-Do"

Tenth year anniversary for "Mannequins on the Loop," an art project where local businesses sponsor thematic mannequin decorations along Delmar Boulevard.

I loved the coke cans, used as curlers. Very creative. Additional plus... the blowing hair. The sponsor is a hair salon, hence the theme. UCity High School Art class created this... so fab. The students have their portraits arrayed along her bust line. :)

Thanks for visiting.
Great idea and wonderful shot.

This brings back memories. In West Texas in the 50’s and 60’s, girls with long hair rolled their hair on coke cans.

I can remember using washed orange juice cans with the ends cut off as giant rollers.

Back in 1966, I was not a teen yet, but I remember some teen girls used to sleep with rollers in their hair all night, and some of them used old containers of frozen orange juice concentrate! I'm just now reading the above comments and am finding out that this was not just a regional practice!

I wonder how many of us remember when girls did their hair with cans. I had a friend who used orange juice (frozen) cans to straighten her naturally curly hair. Great eminder of times gone by.
