My eldest needs some headshots again and wants a studio high key look, so I am experimenting with some rented strobes, umbrellas, light stands, etc. I find lighting gear intimidating, but am trying to take it one step at a time.
Practicing on my youngest child's Cheshire Cat. I did learn that you have to shoot on manual and can't use a shutter speed faster than 1/250 or 1/320 (at the fastest), otherwise half or more of your image will turn really dark (shutter moving faster than flash sync).
