50 years today, since humanity placed a foot on a different planet.
“Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon. July 1969 A.D. We came in peace for all mankind.”
Here is a crew patch from Apollo XI, the original "moon landing" mission, which traveled to the moon and back in 1969, care of Michael Collins (one of the astronauts).
Note the three signatures - Neil Armstrong (far left), Michael Collins (center) and Buzz Aldrin (right).
St. Louis has an entrepreneur, Joe Edwards, who is a huge space fan. He owns the Moonrise Hotel (among other things). This badge is on display there. Spotted on the way to the Moonrise rooftop bar, in honor of the day.
I saw Joe out there, wearing his space suit, but this image is better. :)

Wow!! That is really something quite out of the proverbial box. How special is that? Wouldn't it be good if we could have a worldwide outbreak of peace from all mankind/humanity?
What a wonderful thing to own! Bet it cost him a fortune! We have been seeing the wonderful events on tv all week here. I love to see it again - so many memories of watching it 50 years ago! It was such an exciting and hopeful time!
That is pretty cool... It is one of those dates that you remember where you were .. I was in my last year at primary school and our teacher bought her tv to school so that we could watch it live on tv.. and you know how big tv's were in those day's..
What an incredible item to be able to see in person! And wasn't it pretty amazing to be able to look back 50 years and what we were able to accomplish. I remember watching it on TV with my parents.
