Leaf Insect by rosiekerr

Leaf Insect

One more from my insect workshop of last evening.

This is a "leaf insect," also known as a walking leaf. They look just like real leaves. They are as thin as leaves, too. I had a hard time figuring out its anatomy.

You can see the head at the top. It has tiny little red eyes and red antenna. Its "arms" are on either side of its head, almost is if it is reaching up.

The large lighter "leaf" below is the body. I had never seen one before. Apparently, they are in South Asia to Australia.

Thanks for tolerating the "nerd-fest." :)
How beautiful. This is a wonderful specimen. Sounds like a great workshop. fav
