Deadly Beauty by rosiekerr

Deadly Beauty

A Portuguese Man-of-War jellyfish. I had never seen one before, so I had to do a little research to identify it. I just noticed... a palm tree, silhouetted and reflected onto the body of the jellyfish. How lucky!

I took the title from a National Geographic article and photography slide show, linked here (information and gorgeous photos):

The photos are really beautiful... much better than mine, but (in fairness) I found this washed up on the beach.

Thanks for your visits and comments, as you have time to give.

What a great shot of this - we get them washed up on our west coast (North Island, NZ). I have tried to photograph them, but have never put them on 365, as the angle I have taken them from, makes them look like little 'willies'.!!!! You have obviously gotten down very low and have captured the detail beautifully.

@creativeaddict Oh, sure... this is South Padre Island, Texas, down near the tip of Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico coast. In case you want to come... or stay away! ;) I did see three or four washed up on the beach yesterday, fyi.

@rosiekerr Thanks. I've seen some at the Oregon coast here, but were very tiny and not as blue, I don't think. It was like 30 years ago.
