A Portuguese Man-of-War jellyfish. I had never seen one before, so I had to do a little research to identify it. I just noticed... a palm tree, silhouetted and reflected onto the body of the jellyfish. How lucky!
I took the title from a National Geographic article and photography slide show, linked here (information and gorgeous photos):

Wow !! What a find and capture!! Beautiful photo of this jellyfish. I did not realize these were deadly. I better watch myself when i go travel by the ocean. Fav !!
Rosie! FAV! This is a spectacular find and so beautifully photographed! The colors are amazing and your exposure so perfect for portraying how natural this scene is! Beautiful!!!
What a great shot of this - we get them washed up on our west coast (North Island, NZ). I have tried to photograph them, but have never put them on 365, as the angle I have taken them from, makes them look like little 'willies'.!!!! You have obviously gotten down very low and have captured the detail beautifully.
@creativeaddict Oh, sure... this is South Padre Island, Texas, down near the tip of Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico coast. In case you want to come... or stay away! ;) I did see three or four washed up on the beach yesterday, fyi.
Thanks for that link.... so you didn't (carefully) take it home and photograph it on a light table? :)
