Young gull by rosiekind

Young gull

I think this is some kind of young gull as it looks quite downy and it has brown feathers around its rump. I've looked in the RSPB bird book but can't find one just like this so if anyone has any ideas of what kind it is, please let me know. It was taken at Priory Country Park this afternoon on the main lake.

A lovely clear shot, so downy and fluffy.

Lovely capture of the young bird - I like the ripples on the water too. Sorry I am no help with the ID.

What a beautiful shot. The water is just perfect with those ripples. Amazing detail on his feathers.

@busylady @pamknowler @yonnie @carolmw Thank you
@hudd @killeen I must admit tern did cross my mind - thank you for confirming that this is indeed a tern rather than a gull. It was the beak that made me think it was a tern
