Mrs Blackbird was hopping around the lawn when Steve was clearing a patch under the conifer tree so that he could install another water butt so that we don't have to walk so far to water the flower tubs outside the front garden. Of course, when he moved various bits and pieces he uncovered a lot of nice juicy worms and slugs. Mrs Blackbird was very pleased and I thought she wouldn't get off the ground with all the bits she collected. She is so tame that you can get within about 2ft from her.
Thanks for all your kind comments and Favs - it is always much appreciated. I have to go to work soon as I have arranged a meeting for one of the struggling Good Neighbour Groups and the only day that the previous chair could make it was Wednesday afternoon which is not one of my days to work now. However, I arranged to meet them but sadly her husband has had another stroke so she won't be able to make it. It is such a shame as they are both such lovely people. I am hoping some of the others will turn up though as I have had to hire the resource centre.
Great shot. I think that she might be feeding some young somewhere. I see a lot of birds stockpiling and that's the only thing I can think of as to why they hold so much without eating them.
How sad for this lady and her husband!! I hope he recovers quickly and stays healthy!!
As for your photo, all I can say is, I'm glad I'm not a baby blackbird!! Ewwwwwwww, don't want to eat worms and bugs, but what great details and lighting!! There's enough there for a whole flock of birds to eat!! FAV!
