Oh I have had great photo opportunities today! First I went to Priory Country Park and saw a kestrel sitting high in a tree and later got shots of him hovering over his prey but I think I shall save that for tomorrow as I shall have a busy day at work, etc. and won't probably get a chance to take any photos. I also saw a female woodpecker and got some shots of her on a tree as well as some doggie photos of one playing in the lake. I made a terrible mistake when I was uploading them to my PC because I uploaded them to Picasa and thought they were all on board so took my memory card reader and card out and then proceeded to format the card in my camera. When I looked at the images in Picasa, I had less than half the shots which did not include the kestrel hovering, etc. Anyway, I decided to use some data recovery software that I had previously downloaded but not used. I had to do a deep scan but it found my images. However, I could only recover 100MB for free but needed to pay to recover 701MB that was on my card. Anyway, I paid and it was worth it (approx £28) because it retrieved my images and now I have got it on my other laptop should I make the same mistake again!
Anyway, I decided to go for another walk this afternoon as it is lovely and sunny and a walk along Wood Lane was called for to try to find the stonechats because I knew they were up there as I have seen them before. I walked all the way past Hill Farm up to Sheerhatch Woods but got photos of both the male and female. Although the female is not as brightly coloured as her mate, I think she is a pretty little bird.
Thanks for all your kind comments and Favs - it is always much appreciated.
I nearly forgot to tell you that one of my prints last week came second in the competition - it was a portrait of a man I saw in Cambridge ages ago and I printed it in monochrome. I have heard that it is under consideration to enter it into East Anglia Federation competition. It's the second image I have had held back by the Judge so I must be improving! Portraiture seems to be something I perhaps should do more of but I need to find some nice characters who don't mind me taking their photograph.
Fabulous ! such a beautiful capture and light against the black background - fav Congratulations and well done re gaining second place in your photo composition !!
Well done on the competition - was the portrait the one you posted? I remember one that was quite striking. Sounds like you have had quite a day (again). This stone chat is splendid and makes for a great composition sitting on the stems of the plant I recognise but can not name. Fav
Congrats with the competition, you had a wonderful day shooting birds you would of been on a high....sorry to hear about your upload but all worked out well for a cost. Beautiful capture love the dark bokeh.
Wonderful capture, what a todo you have had, I'm glad that you have finally recovered your photos, I must admit mine are only on my iPad and backed up on my external hard drive. Which reminds me I have to upload 6 months worth off my two sd cards.
