The starlings having eaten all the sultanas and suet pellets I put out for them this morning have now taken the young ones to the feeder with the saucer like perching platform so that they can finish the day with sunflower seeds. They do like a varied diet!
After I took this, I suddenly noticed that the starlings all flew up together into the lilac tree and then I saw the reason why. The magpie was hovering round in the background obviously hoping to have a young starling for his tea. Thankfully, he saw me pointing my camera out of the window and flew off. Magpies seem to be able to see you from a huge distance luckily for the starlings.
