It was lovely to see him in the garden with his new red breast coming on nicely.
When we pulled up on the drive, we stayed in the car to watch something I've never seen before - 2 chaffinches mating. The male kept hopping round the female who stuck her tail in the air and then he mounted her. It was funny as I had only said yesterday that I hadn't seen any small birds mating - they must have heard me. The female has built a nest in the ivy on the front of our house so I shall expect to see little chaffinches in the not too distant future. We have had a really successful bird nesting year in our garden and it has made me so happy and well worth all the money I spend on food to tempt them in!
He is more advance than my little baby robin. No red feathers yet!! That was great to see the chaffinches - more babies!! You are so lucky with your fab garden!! Fav!
