Steve is sorting out some of his things and I put a load of stuff in the back garage here when we moved 10 years ago and I haven't seen them since! Anyway, I asked him to at least get some things out for me and he came out with this case. Inside it is full of memories. There are my 21st birthday cards, congratulation cards on when I qualified as a nurse in 1987, my nurses belt and buckle (silver which my Mum bought me), my old school reports going back to when I first started school, my children's school reports and vaccination cards and a few old books. I haven't really explored it all yet so there may be more but it just brings back so many memories for me. I can't throw them away so I shall have to find somewhere to put the case.
I can't believe the nurses belt ever fitted me! It is just so tiny but I was skinny when I was nursing. Running around on a hospital ward certainly kept me fit and I often missed my breaks so didn't eat for hours. No wonder I was so thin and I remember actually consulting a dietician to see how I could put on weight!!! She advised me to put cream on my porridge and all sorts of things like that. I don't have that problem now - just the opposite trying to keep the weight off me
Isn't it marvellous that a simple birthday card can bring back so many loving memories -- but your case of treasures from the past are just wonderful I would also hang on to them !
