The End

I found this dragonfly speared onto on of the pegs I used to hang out the washing. I assume a Fiscal Shrike (Butcher bird) is responsible for this.

@salza That is so neat. It just hunts, pegs it on a spike to dry and die, and then comes back to eat it? I respect that.

@adambralston at least it was only a dragonfly! The common name for the bird is 'butcher bird'. I shall attempt to get a picture of one. There is definitely a pair that come into the garden fairly regularly.
