Like I said in my narrative on yesterday’s picture, at each road intersection, obviously where the space permitted, the floats would stop and give a show. While moving along the parade trail, the floats are compacted but at these intersections they start gradually opening up to grotesque sizes, both sideways and upwards. I have purposely retained the people in these pictures to show the size of the floats, especially when fully ‘expanded. In height they were at least three storeys high.
In older times people used to throw eggs or vegetables at each other during the carnival parade; nowadays that habit has changed drastically (thank God) and people throw confetti instead. The roads turn into a long carpet of confetti and usually some of them remain hidden even in people’s clothes, hair, shoes till the next day, since they are so small that it becomes a hard work to remove them utterly. I can vouch for this because have had confetti thrown on my head and had quite a job to rid myself of them. But it was fun.
Thank you very much for looking and for your comments on yesterday’s picture.
