The carnival parade of Acireale starts in the late morning and continues to late at night. I wonder how the people living in the streets through which the parade passes – if they are not interested in the carnival – to survive with all that music, noise and lights throughout the day.
The floats not only have vivid colors and shapes but also use an advanced system of lighting and movement that bring more life to the floats. At road intersections, and where space permitted, the floats stopped and performed a show with the figures on the float performing their own separate movements. For example, the boy on the front of this float was doing the Break Dance and was rolling continuously from side to side to the sound of appropriate music.
Something about Acireale: Acireale is a coastal city and commune in the north-east of the province of Catania, It is about 30 minutes by car from Catania and faces the Ionian Sea on the east side of Sicily.. It is a diocese, famous for its churches, including the 17th century Acireale Cathedral, and a seminary, for the training of priests. Acireale is also noted for its art and paintings.
Many thanks for looking and for your wonderful comments on yesterday's picture.
Sounds very exciting, to have figures on the float move in a synchronized fashion to the music. It must be so much fun to watch! Great shot there, you've captured the colors and light so well.
