On 2nd September there was the last parish feast of the Sliema area for the year. It was the feast of the parish dedicated to St Gregory (the Great). Everything was ready for the procession with the statue of the saint when a heavy thunderstorm broke out and the whole thing had to be cancelled. Immediately the rain gave some respite, volontary workers were gathering up the flags, banners and statues which decorated the streets to avoid further damage to them.
However, the celebrations on the eve of the feast where held as usual. They were very beautiful and were followed by thousands of people - Maltese and tourists. The fireworks were all let off and I have tried to take some shots which are different from those I posted before. In fact the organisers from this parish try to be more original and different from the preceeding feasts. I loved this shot, for the fan-like outburst of light and the lovely reflections on the water.
Beautiful pic. of the fireworks
