This is my 700th shot on 365.
I have been wanting to post this picture for quite some time. It shows the Hotel Le Meridien overlooking Balluta Bay. Balluta Bay is part of the popular Sliema seafront promenade. The hotel is one of the latest hotels built in Malta and enjoys panoramic views of Balluta Bay which starts from The Tower – a watchtower built during the Knights of St John period and ends with the Dragonara Casino.
There are two protected villas right in front of the hotel. The one on the left is the property of the hotel. The developers of the hotel were not allowed to demolish this beautiful villa. It was therefore turned into an administration block outside the hotel complex, retaining its original features. The ‘Villa’ as it has been named has a restaurant at ground floor level and another at first storey level. The tall cypress tree is decorated with thousands of light bulbs all the year round.
