On the Saturday of our weekend break in Gozo we decided to go to evening ‘Sunday’ mass at the Madonna ta’ Pinu Shrine. My first thought was to take some shots of sunset before we entered church. We were early for mass but late for the sunset. I sped all the way to the church hoping to be just in time while watching the sun increasingly going down behind the buildings. I managed to capture the sunset over Għarb a few seconds before the sun disappeared completely.
The Madonna ta’ Pinu Shrine is the most venerated place in the Maltese Islands. It is said that in this place, the Madonna appeared to a certain Karmni Grima when returning home through the fields of Pinu (a diminutive of Philip).
Thank you very much for looking and for your lovely comments on yesterday's picture.
