Another collage to show some more of the participants in the Middlesea Race 2014.
Top row from left to right: a French entry (FRA); A German entry (GER); a Croatian entry (CRO); 2 Maltese entries (MLT); another of the Italian entry (ITA).
Bottom row : another selection of boats; battle of the giants.
There were several categories of boats depending on the size of the boats and the area of the sails. Each category will have its winner and there will an overall winner, which is not necessarily the biggest boat or the one that re-enters harbour first.
An extract from the latest news on the race says: "Monday 20th October 2014 - By Midnight virtually the entire fleet racing in the Rolex Middle Sea Race had passed through the Straits of Messina, heading for Stromboli, the active volcano that marks the most northerly part of the 608 mile course. As high pressure moved in from the north, the area around Stromboli had virtually no gradient wind and for those yachts yet to reach Stromboli, a south flowing current has slowed proceedings even further."
Thank you very much for looking and for your wonderful comments and the many fav's on yesterday's picture.
