Last week-end there was one of the three parish church feasts in the area which we frequent in the evening. It was the Parish of Our Lady of Carmel. The church faces the bay of Balluta.
A Parish feast takes the following shape: there is a whole week of activities before the feast day culminating with nightly fireworks displays starting on Friday night and ending on Sunday night when the procession with the patron saint ends. In Malta no feast is considered worthwhile without fireworks. Parishes near the sea use barges to set off their fireworks. So I was very disappointed when on Friday I didn’t see the barge in the middle of the bay – it didn’t augur well for a lovely feast. Here’s my shot to prove it.
Joke: Joe and his wife Mary went to watch the fireworks of Joe’s childhood parish feast. Joe told Mary that he was going to the parish band club to have a couple of beer with his childhood friends. Mary said: “I’m not coming, I don’t know any of your friends. Instead I will sit down on a bench at the promenade and enjoy the evening breeze.” So Mary sits down disgruntled on the bench and another woman came and asked permission to sit next to her: To start a conversation the other woman said: “Aren't you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger?'
'Yes, I am.” Mary quickly replied, “ I married the wrong man.'
Thank you so much for looking and for the lovely comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture.
Sorry for no fireworks but there are enough lights there that you would just think they were real low to the ground!! I love city lights ... from afar ... don't want to live in the city but do love their lights!! Great capture foreground and background! FAV!
A beautiful low light capture!
