In 1942, the people of Malta received collectively the highest honour the British Government could bestow on it’s subjects – the George Cross which is exhibited in the museum at St Elmo. I have posted two shots of the cross and covering letter on a background formed by the Maltese flag and copied the writing of the covering letter. Since then the Maltese flag proudly shows the cross on the white side of the Maltese colours. There was a movement to remove the cross from the Maltese flag but till now it has failed. On my part I consider the cross as part of Malta’s heroic past and should never be removed.
The shot is not as clear as I wished it to be because it is taken through the protective glass case and I had to try to keep out of the picture all reflections.
Many thanks for looking and for the lovely comments and the fav's on yesterday's picture. Very much appreciated.
