TIMES OF WAR

Again from our visit to Fort St Elmo. At the museum.
Top left picture shows an electronic board describing the importance of Malta to Britain up to the 20th century.
Bottom left picture shows another electronic board describing the alliance made between Hitler and Mussolini – the Italian Dictator – that brought Malta to the forefront of the war, especially as a consequence of the invasion by Axis forces of North Africa. Malta was on the route of supplies which had to reach North Africa from Italy.
Right picture. A German gun captured in Africa (I think) and brought to Malta where it has remained.
Many thanks for all your views, comments and favs. Always much appreciated.

Great images to show the effect the war had on your country. Thanks for the information to go with them.

Fascinating wartime memorabilia. My uncle was stationed in Malta in the Royal Navy pre-WW2. Died under German fire in the English Channel, sadly, so I never knew him. Interesting photos, Dione.
